Introduction to managing employees

Less complaining, more working

Managing employees can be a tough task. They complain a lot and about the most smallest things. As a manager your job is to make sure they are focusing on the most important: Our core business functions and company's profit. Everything else will simply not contribute towards this noble goal.

Communicate, lead, demand

Even though employees tend to complain about unimportant stuff, communication is important. Without active relationship with management, employees will simply lose their focus and stop contributing towards shared goals. Make sure all communication is essential. Never let an employee say "no", "later" or "I've got other stuff to worry right now". Those are all nonsense.

Remember rules

We are sure you and your employee will enjoy working together when rules are clear. This instructions booklet is for your eyes only. For the manager, not for the employee. Reading instructions requires precision and intellect, something that very few employee-level personnel have.

Tasks

Tasks are our innovative way of organizing profitable business actions. Tasks are received conveniently by utilizing some of the newest technology, the fax machine. Each task contains a super top secret code that easily indicates how an employee should arrange their working space.

If an employee for some reason does not remember how to arrange their working space based on the top secret code, they can rely on your skillful management to provide the right configuration. You will find all the possible configurations from this manual later on.

After the working space has been properly configured, all the employee needs to do is simply to use the key to the Initiate Task Startup Initiator (I.T.S.I.). Nice and easy, isn't it?

Using a wrong configuration together with I.T.S.I. would result the company producing wrong type of products. This would lead to unwanted delays and a profit loss. As working has been done easy as possible, only two of such unlikely errors would be barely tolarated before an employee is fired.

Completing tasks on time means there can be no slacking. A good manager reminds their employees that anyone can be replaced with a faster employee any day. In a positive, encouraging way, of course.

Configurations

You may refer to this table in case an employee – despite all the paid working hours spent on training – won't remember the right comfiguration based on the secret keycode.

Code Configuration
#0025F FAA-3 and XAM-2 on. All green buttons must pressed except F4.
#24GER Press both yellow buttons to turn the lights on. PET-3 should be on.
#JND45 To be used: indicators XAM-2, BOB-2 and F4 button.
01EOKL This should be easy. All should be on except for BOB-2 indicator and button 01. That's the name of the button so it might not be the first button on the controller.
1OLEFT Use buttons A3 & 01. PET-3 should be off, but other indicators that are controlled with red buttons should be used.
44-XRQ All green buttons should be used except for Z2 if it is green, don't remember. Oh, and PET-3 would be nice.
552TEF Everything on! Except for A3 and any red buttons that have the letter R on their name.
63HKEB All off except for either PET-3 or XAM-2, depending on which one is controlled with R4. The one that is controlled with R4 should be it.
83YEJ1 Z2 button (either a yellow or blue button) and TIP-5 inidicator should be on. Others off.

Code Configuration
89TYEL Use the leftmost button and also K3, 01 and A13. Other regular buttons should not be used.
95DAR0 We need ASD-9 and XEZ-5 on for this one. And DAF-2 is there is an indicator on that name...
AB77AS ASD-9, please. And BOB-2 or BAB-3. R4 button should be used, too.
AC74AS No idea, try to survive, pal!
BAB-53 Both regular green buttons. Use also 01 and K3. No yellow buttons!
D63-XS Out of the following we only need the one that is controlled by a blue button: marketing, weight or speed.
DAB2EL XAM-2 and FAA-1. Or was it FAA-2? FAA-something!!!
G2010F Yellow buttons and all blue buttons which have their indicators start with the letter B.
GAD52B All green buttons except A3 (it should only be used if it is not a green button). Others off.
HA23-5 All red round buttons. No TIP-5.
KSL231 Heavy stuff! We need PET-3, TIP-5 and weight indicator to be on.
L0011L Add speed and quality. Also press K3.

Code Configuration
TUT-0R We usually give this task for new employees. Easy: only button A13 should be pressed. Nothing else. You'll find the list of buttons from Workstation system description later on from this manual.
X45EEF No quality, but quantity and, well, K3 and A3 are my favourite buttons. And they have the same color! No, number, actually. The color is different.
XAF225 This is one of the only products that have quality so let's not add anything else. Except for TIP-5 if that is controlled by a yellow button.
XXF223 Haha have fun! I'm going to enjoy my retirement. Cheers! -Tim

Workstation system description

Our employees are always happy to learn that our workstations are modern, easy to use and almost fully automatized. All there is left for the employee themselves are inputting the right configurations. Here we go through all different indicators and buttons found on our standard working stations.

Regular buttons

All round, regular buttons are used to change indicator lights to emit the right color required by the current task. All regular buttons with their names are listed here.

P.L.O.P. meter

The Production Limit Oversupply Problem meter (or simply P.L.O.P. meter) indicates the condition of your working station. In all cases, P.L.O.P. should be kept under the safety value of 5 as if value 10 is reached, it may cause the system to heat dangerously. All of our working stations are properly maintained so P.L.O.P. almost never rises above 0. This is why you can easily ignore the meter and focus on the task at hand.

But if a single working station would, for some odd reason, lack even the very basic maintenance for several years, the P.L.O.P. could theoretically rarely rise to problematic amounts. Of course in such a case pressing the P.A.L.F. button would fix this problem and working can continue normally.

Fax machine

You can find the fax machine from the right side of your working station. Whenever an employee receives a new task via fax, it should be reported to the personal manager immediately.

P.A.L.F. button

The P.L.O.P. Amount Limiter Function button (or simply P.A.L.F.) is used to thrust a randomized amount of cooling liquid into the working station's system. Because of system complexity, this will usually either lower or increase the amount of P.L.O.P. to a random value betweeen 0-9 so it may be necessary to press the button couple of times until P.L.O.P. meter shows a safe level. The P.A.L.F. button is located at the small controller and is never of colors green, red or blue.

Program lights

All of the following indicator lights tell something about the configuration. They are controlled with regular buttons.

I.T.S.I.

Initiate Task Startup Initiator (I.T.S.I.) is located above the big controller and should be used when the configuration is complete and the task is ready to run. Requires a key so do not lose it.

Configuration Code Monitor

In addition to fax, the configuration codes are transmitted into your Configuration Code Monitor, located above the large controller. With the monitor worker efficiency has been noticed to increase over 78% as messy employees tend to lose important documents to their table with no proper excuses.

Light switch

If ever needed, this button turns the lights on and off. Found on the smaller controller. Button color is either red or green. Why is it there on a controller and not on e.g. a wall? Excellent question! If you're a stupid employee who does not know that this way the company can collect interesting statistics about usage of lights.

Info screen

The largest screen indicates both time left to complete the current task and also company's profits. Both of these usually motivate an employee to work faster: Being late on completing tasks causes company's profits to decrease and this often results people getting fired. Starting from the lazy employees themselves who caused it, of course.

Printing guide

You may easily print this manual to use it off-screen. Just remember not to leave it laying around: It is not meant for employees' eyes.

Settings

Simply use your browsers print window that is often opened by pressing Ctrl + P (Windows systems) or Cmd + P (MacOS systems). Use the following settings:

Before pressing print, make sure that page numbers are correctly at the bottom middle of each page. If not, double check the settings.
